The Sea Sheller is the best tool for opening Crab and Lobster Legs and deveining Shrimp and Prawns. The Sea Sheller Story:
In 1996, the Sea Sheller was invented by Dr Tony LaSalle and his wife in Overland Park Kansas. The Sea Sheller sprang from an experience the couple had at a Seafood Restaurant in Orlando, Florida. After bending a fork into a pretzel, they started drawing the idea for the perfect Crab, Lobster & Shrimp tool. The original prototypes were made from scrap metal. These did not create a lot of interest.
A few months later, Tony showed his invention to a friend in the plastics business. The Sea Sheller was born, now in dishwasher safe plastic! The first run of 10,000 Sea Shellers took several days to produce and sold out quickly. The Lasalles then heard about Bob Chinn's Crab House. They stopped by and showed him the Sea Sheller and Bob ordered 40,000 of them on the spot! The pace of business quickly overwhelmed the plasics company, who could only manufacture about 12,000 Sea Shellers per day. The entire business was sold to a Manufacturing Company famous for sword picks and steak markers for restaurants. Today, more than 5 MILLION Sea Shellers are sold annually!
