Description

The ubiquitous potato is very handy in solving the problem of foods that are too salty. “Too salty” can come from several sources. The most common when preparing seafood are:
1. Crab – Some Crab meat is removed from the legs without rinsing the exterior of the crab leg first. This leads to salt transfer to the crab meat while shucking.
2. Reduced Sauces can concentrate the salt. (Better to season after reducing)

A peeled, raw potato can turn a too salty dish into a perfectly balanced dish!
Simply peel a whole potato and place in the bowl with the crab meat & cold water for 15-20 minutes… the potato will absorb the excess salt from the crab! If your sauce is too salty, chill the sauce & place a peeled potato in the chilled sauce for 15-20 minutes. Re-warm your sauce and you are ready to go!
