(Chionoecetes Bairdi)
We do most of the work for you! Snow Crab Sections are cooked, cleaned and brine frozen leg and body whole clusters. Snow Crab Sections contain all the edible portion of the crab. Since they are cleaned before freezing, you may enjoy them hot or cold!
Tanner Snow Crab (C. bairdi) average 2lbs to 4lbs at harvest, making them about twice as big as the 1lb to 2lbs of the smaller Opilio Snow Crab (C. opilio) which are usually found in seafood buffets. This translates into a significant difference in edible meat between the two crab species.
Tanner crab (Chionoecetes bairdi ) are the bigger cousin of Opilio crab (Chionoecetes opilio) both residing in the eastern North Pacific Ocean and Bering Sea. These crabs are also marketed under their trade names: "Snow Crab" (C. opilio) and "Tanner Crab" or "Sno crab" (C. bairdi)
